A circadian rhythm is roughly a 24-hour cycle in the physiological processes in all living beings, including plants and animals. The term "circadian", coined by Franz Halberg, means literally "about a day." The formal study of biological temporal rhythms such as daily, weekly, seasonal, and annual rhythms, is called chronobiology.
In a strict sense, circadian rhythms are internally generated, although they can be modulated by external cues such as sunlight and temperature.
In relation to the swissplan, eating certain foods at certain times of day allows the body to follow its natural patterns of digestion and assimilation.
This plan of three meals a day and only three meals a day stimulates the pancreas and the thyroid to work hard and then rest. This pattern is one of the components of change that helps the body shift its enzyme capacity and hormones. It then begins to find balance.
Breakfast is a vital part of the swissplan program. There are exceptions offered, but remember it is the breakfast that kickstarts the plan.
